The feature was added to the RPG Maker VX 1.01 update. In addition to the same as characters feature, the update contains an extra script that helps to improve the performance of the program.

The Standard Runtime Package for RPG Maker VX allows you to play your games created with the program on computers running the 32-bit version of the operating system. If you are using a 64-bit computer, it is not known whether the program will work with the 64-bit operating system. All other versions of the RPG Maker program have not been confirmed to work with this operating system.
